Dining For Six.
The "Starfish" table was originally custom made for a customer who needed a table for his entry hall, as a podium for a flower decoration. But it also makes for an excellent dining table for six. The curved legs and organic strechers is reminiscent of the Art Nouveau style, but with its simplified expression and clean lines, the table may be part of a modern decor.
Because You Are Unique.
A very special table-top was designed for this furniture. The specially selected pieces of wood that the top is made of, are joined in curved lines that follow the wood’s unique grain pattern. This gives it a very organic feel, almost as if the top was made from one single piece of wood. It is a very time consuming method that requires a special routing technique and careful selection of the wood, but the end result is unmistakably different. Each table is entirely unique.
The Visible Tenons.
All the pieces in the table frame are joined using visible mortise and tenon joints with a "loose" tenon that connects the pieces. The ”loose” tenon is made of African Padauk, which has a beautiful discrete red color. These red tenons add yet another subtle detail to the table.
The Star Of The Show.
A unique under-frame was developed for this table. Six stretchers meet and merge at a central star-shaped hub, where each organic double-leaf joint is framed with a fine Padauk veneer inlay.
Not Just Any Logo.
A special logo adorns Ask Emil Skovgaard's exclusive furniture. It is made of small pieces of wood that are glued together, rounded and fitted into the furniture at a select location. As shown here on the leg of `Spider` the logo creates a subtle detail.
